Cleve works in your phone’s browser at app.cleve.ai, with a layout built for small screens. Sign in with the same account you use on your computer, and your docs, folders and chats are all there.

You can also download Cleve for your phone: Both links, with QR codes, are on the download page. The rest of this page describes Cleve in a mobile browser.

The phone layout

Cleve switches to the phone layout on screens narrower than a typical tablet, including a narrow browser window.
  • Cleve opens to chat. On a phone, the home screen is a full-page chat with Cleve.
  • The top bar shows the menu button and your agent’s name (Cleve, unless you’ve renamed it). When you’re in a doc that lives in a folder, it shows the folder path instead. Tap the name or path to open the menu.
  • One doc at a time. Tabs and side-by-side panels are desktop features. On a phone, each doc fills the screen.

Get around with the menu

Tap the menu button (two lines) at the top left. The menu slides in with:
  • Chat, New doc and Search at the top.
  • Docs, with buttons to create a new doc or folder, All Docs, your folders, and Shared with you.
  • Feedback, Marketplace, Upgrade and your account (including Settings and Sign out) at the bottom.
Tap a folder to see the docs inside it. Tap the menu button again, in the same spot, to close the menu.

Chat on your phone

On a phone, chat is always a full page rather than a side panel.
  • Tap Chat in the menu to open it.
  • In the top bar, tap the history icon (View all chats) to see past chats, or the new-chat icon (New chat) to start fresh.
  • Ask Cleve about a doc: while reading a doc, tap the Cleve icon at the top right. Chat opens with that doc already attached.
Docs and folders you add to a chat appear as chips above the message box. On a touch screen, each chip shows an ×; tap it to remove that doc from the conversation. It stays removed while you keep chatting. See Chat with Cleve for everything you can ask.

Write and edit docs

The doc toolbar stays pinned to the top of the screen, so it’s still there when the keyboard is open.
  • Undo, redo and the Themes and settings button are always on the toolbar. When there isn’t room for every button, the formatting options move into the More menu (the text-format icon), laid out in rows.
  • Tapping the highlighter or link button swaps the toolbar for those options. Tap the back arrow to return.
  • You can also select text or type / to format, as on desktop.
Comments and meeting transcripts open in a sheet from the bottom of the screen. Tap outside the sheet to close it.

Voice on your phone

  • Dictate into a doc: tap the microphone on the doc toolbar. It stays on the toolbar even when formatting buttons move into More.
  • Talk to Cleve: tap the microphone in the chat message box.
  • Record a meeting: open a doc’s ··· menu and choose Record meeting. The transcript opens in a bottom sheet.
Your recordings are listed in Settings → Voice on every device. See Voice.
