Full Workspace (Default)

• Writing Editor: Main content creation area
• AI Chat: Context-aware assistant
• Ideas Panel: Quick capture sidebar
• Categories Sidebar: Hierarchical organization

• Search Overlay: Global content search

Chat-Only Mode

• Full-screen chat interface
• No writing editor or idea panels
• Perfect for quick AI conversations
• Switch back to full workspace anytime

Panel Management

​

Resizing Panels

• Horizontal panels: Drag left/right borders
• Vertical panels: Drag top/bottom borders
• Snap to grid: Hold Shift while dragging for precise sizing

​

Moving Panels

1. Click and hold the panel’s title bar
2. Drag to desired location
3. Blue highlighting shows valid drop zones
4. Release to dock in new position

​

Docking Positions

• Left: Categories sidebar, Ideas panel
• Right: AI Chat, Artifacts
• Center: Writing Editor (primary focus)
• Bottom: Search, Timeline (when enabled)
• Floating: Undock panels to separate windows

​

Floating Panels

1. Right-click panel header
2. Select “Float Panel”
3. Panel opens in a separate window
4. Re-dock by dragging back to main window

• Click the × button on panel header
• Use keyboard shortcuts (see below)
• Re-open panels from the View menu

​

Automatic Persistence

• Layout configuration saves to browser localStorage
• Panel sizes and positions are restored on reload
• Visible/hidden panels are remembered
• Floating window positions persist (per monitor)

Manual Layout Management

1. Arrange panels as desired
2. Click View → Save Layout
3. Name your layout (e.g., “Writing Focus”, “Research Mode”)
4. Layout is saved for quick switching

2. Select from your saved layouts
3. Workspace instantly reconfigures

• Max floating panels: 4
• Max docked panels: 8 visible simultaneously
• Max panel history: 20 states (for undo/redo)

Floating Panels Not Appearing

• Check if window is off-screen (drag from edge)
